First of all rail travel in Sri Lanka is extremely cheap. For a few euros you can go through all the land. However, the comfort is not the same as in Central / Western Europe. For this makes train travel in Sri Lanka a lot of fun! At least, our experience. Even at the new track sections on the west coast drives the train never faster than 60km / h and in the highlands even only 40. It seems as if the English have left the country just beginning. Simply everything has a nostalgic flair. Exception: the timetable - which is namely available on the Internet and even readable on mobile devices. We report on a trip in the mountains here in detail: By train from Nanu Oya to Badulla.
