Tour 2015
Impressed by our last journey we stay(ed) in paradies Sri Lanka again.
After about 1.5 hours by car from our accommodation we reached the gate of the Wilpattu National Park. Now quickly solved the tickets - and further we went by jeep. With the yield of viewed animals we were very satisfied after about 4.5 hours. However - a leopard unfortunately was not there. As very pleasant we found that no much jeeps in the park were move. Most of the time we were alone.
For Safari in Wasgamuwa National Park we traveled already on the previous evening. We spent one night in a rustic safari lodge. Morning at 7:00 clock we started at the park entrance. Everything seemed very sleepy. Everywhere was morning dew and over the marshes was mild to dense fog. However, many birds were very active. The highlight for us was the observation of an Elephant Family. Animals at the Wasgamuwa National Park
Waikkala - Chilaw
Waikkala - Chilaw
First to arrive in Sri Lanka and get used to the temperatures - for 3 nights we was into a quarter in Waikkala. From here we undertook a day trip to Chilaw.
Waikalla is located north of Colombo 10km to Negombo on the west coast. One finds a gorgeous beach with big coconut trees. Swimming is recommended because of the strong surf only at selected locations.
Kandakuliya - Kalpitiya-peninsula
Kandakuliya - Kalpitiya - Dolphins - Wilpattu NP
A total of 6 nights we stayed on the Kalpitiya Peninsula in the village Kandakuliya in a very nice hotel right on the beach.
Never ending walks on the beach, swimming and in the evening fantastic sunsets - so we´re remembering the days on the Kalpitiya Peninsula. In addition, we undertook from here a visit of the town Kalpitiya, a safari in Wilpattu National Park, and a boat trip to dolphin watching and snorkelling on the reef.
Kandy and the Knuckles Range
Kandy - Knuckles Range - Wasgamuwa NP - 3-Temple walk
The old king´s town Kandy and its surroundings was for 6 nights on our travel plan. Culture, trekking, safari, hiking - we had planned a few.
After the train journey from Colombo to Kandy via Palavi we relaxed first. The next morning we was picked up 7:00 clock to a 3-day trekking tour incl. Safari. Looking back: very exhausting, but also very impressive - we would repeat it at any time ...
Bentota
Bentota - Beruwela - Beach
Bentota has a beautiful sandy beach. We stayed for 3 nights in a small but nice hotel a bit away from the beach.
After the strenuous trekking trip we relaxed excellent in Bentota. The beach is gorgeous. Between Bentota and Aluthgama / Beruwela the Bentota Ganga flows into the sea. In Beruwela we visited the Kande Viharaya Temple-with its gigantic Buddha statue.
